Utrecht, 22 September 2026 — The board of the Impact Economy Foundation (IEF) today announced that Werner Schouten will step down as Executive Director after more than four years, effective 18 November 2026. Claire van den Broek, director of the True Price Foundation, has been appointed as ad interim director, combining the role with her position at True Price Foundation.
Chair Herman Mulder, on behalf of the IEF board: “Werner’s leadership, commitment and contribution to IEF over the past four years have been exceptional. Under his leadership, IEF advanced the Impact-Weighted Accounts Framework (IWAF), built a movement of corporates that made leaps forward in impact management and launched the True Profits initiative. We wish him every success in what comes next.”
Werner Schouten: “Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of leading IEF with an enormous amount of passion, energy and love into the organization it is today. Together with an incredibly passionate and talented team, we helped build in the Netherlands and the EU the rules of the game for an economy in which impact is profitable. I’m proud of what we achieved and the solid basis that we created for the further breakthrough growth of the organization. The economy of the future is one in which impact thrives. I’m excited to keep working on the cutting edge of impact, economy and policy.”
Leadership Transition

Claire van den Broek is director of True Price Foundation and previously worked at Impact Institute, where she played a driving role in growing the True Price movement and advancing the practical application of Impact-Weighted Accounts. Before that, she led partnership teams at Save the Children Netherlands. Earlier in her career she held commercial roles at Ahold Delhaize, Cloetta, and KPN. Claire also serves on the board of True Food Brazil and the steering committee of the True Cost Accounting Accelerator and recently joined the supervisory board of Enviu. With over 15 years’ experience at the intersection of business, policy, and social impact, she brings a strong track record in translating strategy into practical, system-level change.
