Following the escalation of geopolitical tensions and major disruptions in global energy flows, Europe is facing one of the most severe energy shocks in recent years. This situation is not a temporary disruption. It reveals a structural vulnerability of the European economy.
Europe has begun transforming its energy supply, but has not yet fundamentally transformed its production systems. Breaking this dependency requires a systemic transformation of production conditions: electrification, decarbonisation of industrial processes, adaptation of infrastructure, greater resource efficiency and the integration of circular economy approaches, alongside the large-scale deployment of low-carbon solutions.
Together with Business for a Better Tomorrow we call for strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy by reducing fossil fuel dependence.
